Job Description

Nabarro is seeking an Associate for our Funds and Indirect Real Estate team. The group provides a wide range of legal services to a diverse UK and international client base ranging from newly established financial services businesses and entrepreneurial clients to substantial market participants and well established institutions.

About Nabarro

Nabarro is one of the UK's leading commercial law firms. We have more than 420 lawyers (including 120+ Partners) across the London and Sheffield offices, offering a broad range of legal services to major national and international corporate, government, institutional and public sector clients.

About Funds and Indirect Real Estate

Our Funds and Indirect Real Estate team is an acknowledged market leader, being ranked in Band 1 by Chambers for real estate funds. Led by Amanda Howard, the team's extensive experience includes structuring onshore and offshore vehicles and tax-led transactions, establishing joint ventures and all types of alternative investment funds, undertaking big-ticket portfolio or single asset sales and purchases and fund investor work. The department is renowned for its work on structuring property funds and joint ventures across the UK and Europe. We are actively involved in the main industry bodies including AREF, INREV, EPRA, BPF and IPF.

The Role

The role includes:

· Buying and selling high value real estate through SPV entities (corporates, partnerships and trusts) involving share purchase (and similar) agreements
· Pan European investment structures (including Luxembourg funds)
· Offshore funds (including Channel Islands, Cayman Islands, Isle of Man)
· Advising investors investing into Global, pan-European and UK funds including negotiation of fund documents and side letters
· Pooled investment vehicles including unit trusts
· Complex development and investment joint ventures
· Limited partnerships, limited liability partnerships and general partnerships
· Fund management, investment management, asset management and development management agreements including carried interest and performance fee arrangements
· Tax driven structures

The Person:

Candidates should have (a) a good quality corporate background and possess strong technical skills (b) a commitment to business development/client relationship management (including a desire to prepare articles, presentations and present at seminars) and (c) a personal desire to play a key role in the future growth of a dynamic and innovative practice: our Associates are actively involved in all aspects of the business.

Experience in working in corporate real estate or funds is desirable but not a requirement – strong corporate or funds candidates will be considered. The individual should have strong communication and organisational skills and the ability to act proactively and independently to drive transactions forward. Our Associates apply themselves across a varied range of transactions and the applicant must be flexible and have the ability to adapt to new and interesting challenges.
